North Dakota Gambling Overview and Online Casinos

You can bet on sports and you can gamble inside a casino in the state of North Dakota. Both are legal and regulated by the North Dakota Gaming Division.

However, when and where you can partake in both of these online gambling activities is somewhat limited compared to many other states. All of the state’s casinos are situated on tribal lands and operated under the state’s tribal gaming compact.

As for sports betting, it’s also only available in retail sites that are connected to the tribal casinos. There’s no online casino gambling or betting whatsoever that is legal in North Dakota.

Pari-mutuel wagering on live horse racing is legal in North Dakota. As well, off-track betting facilities and online horse race wagering are legal and available to North Dakota horse players.

People can also play the North Dakota State Lottery and even purchase lottery tickets online. You can also play daily fantasy sports in the state.

North Dakota’s Best Gambling Sites

Legal and regulated betting has existed in North Dakota since December of 2021. All legal sports gambling in the state takes place at retail sites located inside the state’s tribal casinos.

Online gambling is not legal in the state. In fact, sports betting has never been officially legalized by the state government, who actually turned down a bid to do so in 2021. It was the state’s tribes who opted to open up sports betting as part of a clause in their tribal gaming compact with the state that permits them to be offering what are termed Class III games such as sports betting.

That being the case, none of the major sports betting apps are operating in North Dakota. All of the sports betting is governed over by the state’s tribes at four sites throughout North Dakota.
