Welcome offer

How the Ladbrokes £30 free bet offer works

Open a new Ladbrokes account, deposit £5 or more and place a £5 real-money bet at odds of 1/2 (1.5) or bigger within 14 days. Once you’ve placed it, Ladbrokes credits six £5 free bets. That’s £30 of free bets for a fiver, six times your stake, which only sister brand Coral and Spreadex (£60 for a tenner) match on our list.

Four of the free bets can go on any sports market: a horse at Cheltenham, a darts match at Ally Pally, a Premier League result. The other two are for football bet builders. None can be used on virtual sports, the Tote or pool bets, and you have 7 days to use them.

Watch the small print. If you back an accumulator to qualify, every selection needs to be 1/2 or bigger. With an each-way bet, only the win part counts, so a £2.50 each-way bet (£5 in total) won’t qualify. You can’t cash out the qualifying bet.

The payment rules are strict too. Deposits by Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill, any prepaid card and certain debit cards don’t qualify. Use a standard debit card in your name.

What’s it really worth?

Your £5 at 1/2 returns £7.50 if it wins. Either way you get six £5 free bets. Free bet stakes aren’t returned, so £5 on a 3/1 winner pays £15, not £20. Put the four open free bets on Evens shots and two winners would give you £10 profit; the two bet builders are longer shots but can pay more. It’s less in total than Betfred’s £50, but you only risk a fiver to get it.

Promo Code

Ladbrokes promo code: do you need one?

No. There’s no Ladbrokes promo code for the sports welcome offer. Register, deposit £5 or more and place a £5 bet at odds of 1/2 or bigger, and the six £5 free bets are added to your account.

About Ladbrokes

Who owns Ladbrokes?

Ladbrokes goes back to 1886, when Schwind and Pennington were commission agents for horses trained at Ladbroke Hall in Warwickshire. The Ladbrokes name arrived in 1902. When betting shops were legalised in 1961, it grew fast, from under 50 shops to 1,135 by 1973.

It merged with Coral in November 2016 to form Ladbrokes Coral Group, which GVC Holdings bought in March 2018. That business is now Entain plc. Online, Ladbrokes runs through LC International Limited, licensed by the Gambling Commission under account 54743, the same licence as Coral.

On the record: in August 2022 Entain agreed to pay £17m over social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, with LC International’s share £14m. It’s the biggest penalty of any bookie in our top five.

Sports and bet types

What can you bet on at Ladbrokes?

Ladbrokes covers all the main UK sports and still feels strongest on the horses and the dogs. Here’s what stands out.

Best Odds Guaranteed on UK and Irish racing from 8am on race day, plus extra each-way places on selected races every day. Worth having for an each-way punt on the Grand National.

Free racing streams

UK horse and greyhound racing streams are free with any active account. Irish and international racing needs a £1 qualifying bet.

Bet Builder and Bet Builder+

Bet Builder works on football and horse racing. Bet Builder+ lets you combine selections across different matches and sports.

Rapid Fire

A quick-fire in-play feature that opens a betting window of about 40 seconds after set pieces.

Cash out

Full and partial cash out, letting you take between 10% and 90% of a bet’s cash out value and leave the rest running.

App

Apps for iOS and Android.

Player feedback

What do punters say about Ladbrokes?

Ladbrokes scores 1.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 4,283 reviews (checked October 2026). 82% are one-star and 13% five-star. Ladbrokes hasn’t replied to negative reviews there and hasn’t recently invited customers to review, so the page leans towards complaints. None of the recent reviews we read were positive.

  • Bonuses that disappoint. Several reviewers say they spent hundreds to trigger a bonus and got much less back, and one says a sign-up bonus wasn’t paid.
  • Account closures. Some report accounts closed after complaints, including one who says £2,889 in winnings was forfeited.
  • Settlement disputes. One punter says a bet on a draw was voided with only the stake returned.
  • Customer service. Complaints mention no live chat, unhelpful replies and ignored follow-ups.
  • Odds and site speed. A few say the site is slow and the odds are worse than at other bookies.
Pros and cons

Ladbrokes: the good and the not so good

Pros

  • £30 for a fiver The lowest qualifying stake on our list (level with sister brand Coral), with low 1/2 odds, so a short-priced favourite does the job.
  • Strong racing perks Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am, daily extra places and free UK horse and greyhound streams.
  • Proper heritage Ladbrokes has been taking bets since the 1880s and has been a high-street name since the 1960s.

Cons

  • Very poor Trustpilot score 1.2 / 5, with no replies to negative reviews.
  • Strict payment rules E-wallets, prepaid cards and even certain debit cards won’t qualify for the offer.
  • The biggest fine in our top five LC International’s £14m share of Entain’s £17m settlement in 2022.

Ladbrokes vs Coral, Betfred and bet365

Here’s how Ladbrokes compares with its sister brand Coral and two other big UK bookmakers.

Ladbrokes and Coral are run by the same company and have the same offer, so pick whichever app you prefer. For a fiver, nobody beats them. If you’re happy to bet a tenner at Evens, Betfred gives you £50 and better reviews. bet365 has the easiest qualifying odds and the biggest in-play range. Conclusion

Is Ladbrokes worth joining?

For a low-risk start, yes. Bet a fiver at 1/2 and you get £30 in free bets, and the everyday racing perks (Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am, extra places, free UK streams) are as good as anyone’s.

But Ladbrokes’ customers are not happy, judging by Trustpilot, and its regulatory record is the heaviest in our top five. Claim the offer with a debit card, get your ID sorted early and keep an eye on your account.
