Matchbook is a betting exchange with a choice of welcome offers. Use the Promo Code NEW30, bet £20 across two qualifying bets and you get £30 in free bets. Or sign up with COMMFREE110 instead and pay no commission for your first 110 days. You can’t have both, so pick the one that fits how you bet.
After that you pay 2% on net winnings, and nothing at all on its Matchbook Zero markets. Players rate it well, with 4.1 out of 5 from 2,284 reviews on Trustpilot (checked October 2026), far ahead of most UK betting sites. Here’s how the exchange works, with simple £ examples, and how Matchbook compares with Smarkets and a normal bookie.

The NEW30 offer asks for two £10 bets, and both have to settle. The first goes on the exchange at odds of 2.0 (Evens) or bigger, say backing Liverpool to beat Spurs at 2.4. The second is a £10 multiple or Bet Builder with at least three selections at combined odds of 3.0 or more, like a three-team acca on the Saturday 3pm games.
Once both have settled, Matchbook pays three £10 free bets within 72 hours: one for the exchange, one for multiples and one for Bet Builders. Each one must be used in full on a single bet, and expires 7 days after it lands or when its event finishes. As usual, the free bet stake isn’t returned with your winnings.
A few rules catch people out. Enhanced Specials don’t count as qualifying bets. Backing and then laying the same selection to lock in a result doesn’t count either. If your first deposit is by Skrill, Neteller or PaySafe card, you won’t get the free bets. And sign-ups referred from matched betting services such as Outplayed or Oddsmonkey are excluded.
The big one: taking NEW30 means you won’t be added to any future 0% commission promotions. So decide up front whether you’d rather have the free bets or the commission holiday.
Matchbook also runs a separate commission-free offer: 0% Commission for 110 Days with the Promo Code COMMFREE110. Sign up with that Promo Code, deposit, and your commission rate is set to 0% for 110 days counted from the day you register. It covers the Matchbook Exchange and Matchbook Zero, but not Enhanced Specials. The same payment exclusions apply, and it can’t be combined with NEW30.
Because that clock starts at registration, only sign up when you’re ready to bet. That’s the opposite of Smarkets, whose 60 commission-free days start from your first deposit.
The free bets have a face value of £30. Matchbook’s normal commission is 2% of net winnings, so to save £30 with COMMFREE110 you’d need to win £1,500 net in your first 110 days (£1,500 × 2% = £30). If you bet a tenner here and there, take NEW30. If you trade most days or bet big on racing, the 0% commission deal is likely worth more.
Enter NEW30 when you sign up, then place and settle two £10 bets: one on the exchange at 2.0 or bigger and one multiple or Bet Builder with at least three selections at 3.0 or bigger. Within 72 hours you get three £10 free bets.

Matchbook is run by Triplebet Limited, based in Alderney and licensed by the Gambling Commission under account 39504. The same licence covers easyBet, the betting brand from easyGroup that launched with Matchbook in October 2024 and uses Matchbook’s exchange.
On the record: in April 2020 the Commission fined Triplebet £740,000 for anti-money laundering, due diligence and social responsibility failings, and suspended its licence from February 2020. That was more than six years ago, but it’s worth knowing.
On an exchange you bet against other punters rather than a bookie. Backing means betting something will happen; laying means betting it won’t, and you take on the backer’s potential winnings as your risk. Matchbook matches the two sides and charges 2% on net winnings.
You back a horse at 6.0 (5/1) with £10 in a big Saturday handicap. It wins, so you make £50 profit. At 2% commission Matchbook takes £1 and you keep £49. On a Matchbook Zero market, or during COMMFREE110, you keep £50.
You don’t fancy the 3/1 favourite in the Grand National, so you lay it at 4.0 for £10. If it loses, you win £10, minus 20p commission = £9.80. If it wins, you pay out £30 (£10 × 3). That £30 is your liability.
Selected horse racing and football markets with no commission and no margin. The trade-off is that cash out isn’t available on Zero markets.
Watch UK, Irish, South African, Australian and US horse racing, plus greyhounds, without having to place a bet first.
Matchbook scores 4.1 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 2,284 reviews (checked October 2026), which puts it among the best-rated UK betting sites we’ve checked. 76% of reviewers give five stars and 16% give one. Matchbook invites customers to leave reviews and replies to around one in seven negative ones.
Most recent reviews are positive, with a few sharp complaints mixed in.
Matchbook and Smarkets are the two exchanges on our list. Here’s how they compare with each other and with two traditional bookmakers.
| Site | Welcome offer | Promo Code | Type | Commission | Trustpilot |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Matchbook | Bet £20 Get £30 | NEW30 | Exchange | 2% (0% on Matchbook Zero markets) | 4.1 |
| Smarkets | 0% Commission for 60 Days | COMMFREE | Exchange | 2% (0% for 60 days) | 2.2 |
| Betfred | Bet £10 Get £50 | Not needed | Bookmaker | None, margin is in the odds | 3.1 |
| bet365 | Bet £10 Get £30 | 365GMBLR | Bookmaker | None, margin is in the odds | 1.3 |
Both exchanges charge 2% as standard. Matchbook’s 0% commission deal runs for 110 days from sign-up against Smarkets’ 60 days from first deposit, and Matchbook also offers free bets as an alternative, plus commission-free Zero markets. The bookies give you more free bets for a tenner, but you can’t lay with them. Compare more options on the best UK betting sites and horse racing betting sites.
Yes. It’s one of the few UK betting sites that players actually rate, the 2% commission is low, and Matchbook Zero markets cost nothing at all. Racing fans get free streams without having to bet, which is handy on a busy Cheltenham afternoon.
Think before you pick your welcome offer. NEW30 suits most people: £30 in free bets for £20 of qualifying bets. If you’ll be trading most days, COMMFREE110 is likely worth more. Either way you only get one, so choose with care.
