Independent Casino Sites UK – October 2026

Here’s what we think are the best independent casino sites UK players can join right now.

Videoslots, PlayOJO and Casumo are best because each one runs on its own operator’s Gambling Commission licence, builds its own promotions and isn’t part of Evoke, Flutter, Entain, Rank or bet365.

That last point is harder to check than it sounds. Plenty of casinos that look like small, quirky brands are really one of dozens of sites on a single licence.

Genting Casino and Hippodrome Online, both names you’d link to real British casinos, are white labels run by other companies online.

So we looked up every casino we work with on the Gambling Commission’s public register, account by account and domain by domain.

Below you’ll find the ones that genuinely qualify, a table of who owns the big UK brands, how to check any site yourself in two minutes, and an honest look at the pros and cons.

Enjoy!

Rankings are agamble.com editorial, updated October 2026. Every site listed holds a UK Gambling Commission licence.

Best independent casino sites UK: our picks for October 2026

Every casino here holds its own Gambling Commission licence (or runs it as the licence holder’s own brand, not a white label) and sits outside the big UK groups. We’ve ranked them for this page: independence first, then the fairness of the offer and the operator’s record. For the wider market, see our best online casinos UK.

  1. Videoslots

    agamble.com’s Pick
    Best independent casino overall
    4.2
    / 5

Videoslots Limited has run the site from Malta since 2011 and holds UK account 39380 in its own name. Since December 2024 it’s been part of Immense Group AB, a holding company set up for Videoslots’ own brands rather than a takeover by a big operator. It says it has more than 9,000 games and runs its own slot tournaments, Battle of Slots. The welcome deal is 11 wager-free spins plus up to £50 matched at 10x, so the full £50 means £500 of play.

  2. PlayOJO

    Best independent no wagering casino
    4.5
    / 5

PlayOJO is the flagship brand of Skill On Net Limited (account 39326), and the register lists playojo.com as one of its own sites, not a white label. The welcome deal is 50 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza at 10p, which is £5 of spins, and PlayOJO says there’s no wagering on any of its rewards. OJOplus pays a little back on every real-money spin. One caveat: Skill On Net also runs 19 white-label sites, Genting Casino and Slingo among them.

  3. Casumo

    3.8
    / 5

Casumo’s UK licence sits with Recro Limited, a Malta company (account 61549), and that licence covers exactly one domain: casumo.com. That’s as single-brand as UK casinos get. The offer is a 50% match up to £100 from a £20 deposit, with 10x wagering on the bonus, a £5 max bet and seven days to finish. Deposit £100 and you get £50, which needs £500 of play.

  4. NetBet Casino

NetBet’s UK casino is run by Netbet Enterprises Limited (account 39170), licensed since December 2017. All seven domains on that licence are NetBet’s own, from casino.netbet.co.uk to vegas.netbet.co.uk. Bet £20 on any slot and you get 100 spins at 10p on Big Bass Splash, with winnings paid as cash up to £100. In November 2025 the company agreed to pay £650,000 over anti-money laundering and social responsibility failings.

  5. Betfred Games

Betfred grew from one Salford betting shop that Fred Done opened in 1967, and the Done family still owns it. Its online casino runs under Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited, account 39544, and the iPhone app is published by Done Brothers (Cash Betting) Ltd. Register with Promo Code SPINS, stake £10 on slots and you get 200 spins at 10p with no wagering. It isn’t small, and the licence holder agreed a £900,000 settlement in June 2026 over customer interaction failings.

  6. Happy Tiger

    Best small independent

Happy Tiger is run by Happytiger ApS from Aalborg in Denmark, licensed since July 2021 under account 57641. It launched in the UK in 2021 and says it grew out of free-to-play games it has made since 2000. The offer is 100% up to £100 from £20, but the 10x is on deposit plus bonus: £20 in and £20 bonus means £400 of play, and bonus wins cap at £300. Spin King and Lux Casino share the licence, and it’s one offer across all three.

Withdrawing deposit or deposit winnings before completing wagering will void the bonus and any bonus winnings. Max bonus wins = £300 (exceptions as set out in full bonus terms).

  7. Mr Vegas

    Best Videoslots sister site
    4.2
    / 5

Mr Vegas runs on the same Videoslots Limited licence, so you get the same independent operator, the same support team and the same deal: 11 wager-free spins plus up to £50 matched at 10x. It also shares the record. In October 2025 the Gambling Commission gave Videoslots Limited a £650,000 penalty and a warning over anti-money laundering and customer interaction breaches.

Definition

What “independent casino” really means in the UK

There’s no legal definition. The Gambling Commission licenses companies, not brands, and it doesn’t label anyone independent. So we use a simple test with two parts.

First, the casino mustn’t belong to one of the big groups: Evoke (William Hill, 888), Flutter (Sky Betting & Gaming, Paddy Power, Betfair), Entain (Ladbrokes, Coral), The Rank Group (Grosvenor, Mecca) or bet365. Second, it mustn’t be a white label, a brand that rents someone else’s licence and platform. The company on the licence should be the one actually running the casino.

In practice that leaves three kinds of site. Single-brand operators, where one company runs one casino, like Casumo or MrQ. Small in-house stables, where an operator runs a handful of its own brands, like Videoslots with Mr Vegas and Mega Riches, or Happy Tiger with Spin King and Lux Casino. And family-owned bookmakers like Betfred, which we come to below.

Where we drew the line on Betfred and bet365

Betfred is the awkward one. It started as a single shop in Salford in 1967, Fred Done still owns it, and it had more than 1,650 shops by 2017. It isn’t small, but it isn’t part of a listed group either, and it runs its own licence. We’ve included Betfred Games with that caveat clearly flagged.

bet365 isn’t part of a listed group either, but it’s one of the biggest online gambling companies in the world. Calling it independent would stretch the word past breaking point, so it isn’t in our picks here.

What about Super Group, LeoVegas and Skill On Net?

Betway, JackpotCity and Spin Casino all sit under Betway Limited (account 39372), part of Super Group. LeoVegas, BetMGM, Pink Casino and Slot Boss share LeoVegas Gaming PLC (account 39198), which MGM Resorts bought in 2022 for $604m. Neither is one of the five groups above, but both are large multi-brand businesses, so we’ve left them out.

Skill On Net is a closer call. PlayOJO is its own brand, not a rented one, and the register shows no actions against it. But the same licence carries about 40 of its own domains and 19 white labels. We’ve included PlayOJO and said so plainly.

Why It Matters

Why it matters who runs your casino

If every UK casino follows the same rules, does ownership matter? For most people, on most days, not much. It starts to matter when you claim a bonus, need help, or have a complaint.

Your complaint goes to the licence holder

The company on the licence is the one responsible for your account, your money and your complaint, whatever the logo says. Complain to the casino first, in writing. If it isn’t sorted within 8 weeks, you can take it to the independent dispute service (ADR) the casino names in its terms, free of charge.

With a white label, that company may not be the one you think. Hippodrome Online’s complaints sit with Betway Limited, not the company that runs the famous London venue. With an independent like Casumo, the company on the licence is simply Casumo’s operator.

One bonus per licence

Welcome offers are often limited to one per licence, not one per brand. Happy Tiger’s terms say it outright: one offer across sites on the same licence, which also covers Spin King and Lux Casino. On a big white-label licence, you can’t always tell which other sites count, so you may sign up somewhere new and find you’re not eligible.

Own games and own promotions

Independents tend to build their own extras because they can’t lean on a big group’s marketing. Videoslots runs its own Battle of Slots tournaments. PlayOJO built OJOplus, which pays a bit back on every spin. Casushi has a free daily game called Daily Catch. White-label sites usually get the platform’s shared promotions instead, which is why so many of them look alike.

Support that knows the product

An independent’s support team works for the brand you’re playing on. Videoslots, for example, lists live chat, email and phone on its own site. On a white label, support is often provided by the platform behind dozens of brands. That isn’t automatically worse, but answers can feel more generic.

Who Owns What

Popular UK casino brands and who really owns them

Every licence holder and account number below comes from the Gambling Commission’s public register, checked in October 2026. “White label” means the register lists that domain as a white label under the licence.

A few big names surprise people. Sky Vegas now sits under Bonne Terre Gaming Limited (65519); the older Bonne Terre Limited licence (38718) still exists but its Sky domains show as inactive. And Genting Casinos UK Limited holds its own remote casino licence (account 537) with no domains listed, while gentingcasino.com is a white label on Skill On Net’s licence.

White Labels

White label casinos explained, with real examples

A white label is a casino brand that runs on another company’s licence and platform. The licence holder handles the technology, payments, ID checks and customer accounts. The brand owner mostly brings the name and the marketing.

It’s legal and common. The Gambling Commission’s register even marks these domains as “White Label” under the licence holder’s account, which is how we checked every site on this page.

Here’s how big some of these platforms are, going by the register in October 2026:

The big white-label platforms

ProgressPlay Limited (39335) lists 95 white-label domains, including Winissimo, Bluefox, Monster Casino, MogoBet, BetMaze, Betrino, SpinzWin, Fruity King, Jazzy Spins and BetSuna, plus bingo sites like Queen’s Bingo.
Jumpman Gaming Limited (39175) lists 129 white-label domains, among them Great Britain Casino, Justin Casino and Online Casino London.
White Hat Gaming Limited (52894) lists 21, including Casimba, Dream Vegas, Grand Ivy, Jackpot Village, Playzee, SpinYoo, Casiku, Temple Nile, Spin Rider and Miami Dice.
Skill On Net Limited (39326) lists 19, including Genting Casino, Slingo, Swift Casino, Luna Casino and PlayJango.

So a casino with a distinctive name and its own mascot can still be one of 100-plus sites on the same back end. That’s why so many welcome offers on our books read almost word for word the same.

Famous names that are white labels online

Hippodrome Online. The Hippodrome Casino in London is run by Hippodrome Casino Limited under its own licence (account 29471). Since February 2026 that company has also held a remote casino licence covering hippodromecasino.com. But the online casino at hippodromeonline.com, the one in our list, is registered as a white label under Betway Limited (39372). So for that site, Betway’s operator handles your account and complaints.

Genting Casino. Genting Casinos UK Limited, whose head office is at Resorts World Birmingham, runs the land-based casinos under account 537. The website gentingcasino.com is a white label on Skill On Net’s licence, the same company behind PlayOJO.

Virgin Games and Monopoly Casino. Both are listed as white labels under Gamesys Operations Limited (38905), the licence behind Jackpotjoy.

7Bet. It’s a white label on Anakatech Interactive’s licence (48789), the same operator that runs Winomania in-house.

Is a white label worse?

Not necessarily. You get the same UK protections either way: ID checks, deposit limits, GAMSTOP and a free route to an independent complaints service. And a big platform can be very good at payments and security.

The difference is who you’re really dealing with. If you want the company behind the logo to be the company behind your account, pick an independent.

Check It Yourself

How to check who runs a casino site

This takes about two minutes and works for any UK casino, not just the ones on this page.

1
Scroll to the footer
UK casinos show who runs them, usually at the very bottom of the page. Look for a line like “Lux Casino is operated by Happytiger ApS” or “Casimba is a brand managed by White Hat Gaming Limited”, followed by a Gambling Commission account number.
2
Note the account number
It’s usually five or six digits, like 39380 for Videoslots or 61549 for Casumo. Ignore Malta (MGA) numbers for this: they cover other countries, not Britain.
3
Search the public register
Go to the Gambling Commission website, open the public register and search the business by account number or name. Check the licence status says Active.
4
Open the Domain names tab
This is the key step. It lists every website on the licence. If your casino’s domain says “White Label”, it’s renting the licence. If it says “Active”, it’s the licence holder’s own site.
5
Count the brands
One or two domains, like Casumo’s single casumo.com, means a single-brand operator. Dozens of active domains or a long white-label list means you’re on a big platform.
6
Check regulatory actions
The same page has a Regulatory actions tab. Recro (Casumo), Happytiger ApS and Skill On Net showed none in October 2026. NetBet, Videoslots and Betfred’s operators each had at least one recent penalty or settlement.
Didn’t Qualify

Partner casinos we left out, and why

We work with more than 80 UK casino brands. Most of them didn’t pass our test. That doesn’t make them bad casinos. It just means they’re not independent.

A few partner brands sit somewhere in between. Mega Riches is Videoslots’ own third brand, and SpinGenie, Prime Slots, JackpotStar and Mega Casino are Skill On Net’s own brands rather than white labels. Spin King is Happy Tiger’s sister site. Lottoland (EU Lotto Limited, 38991) and 10bet (Blue Star Planet Limited, 43173) also run single-brand licences. LiveScore Bet is run by LiveScore Betting and Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited (56859), with Virgin Bet on a separate licence (54310).

Pros and Cons

Independent online casinos UK: pros and cons

Independents aren’t automatically better. Here’s the honest trade-off.

ProsCons
You know exactly which company holds your account and your complaintSmaller operators can have smaller support teams and shorter hours
More original promotions, like OJOplus or Battle of SlotsFewer sister sites to switch to if you don’t like one
Bonus terms aren’t shared with dozens of other brandsA single brand can still have a poor record: NetBet and Videoslots both had penalties in 2025
Often stronger on niche features, like game choice at VideoslotsSmall operators can be sold. If a site’s footer suddenly names a new company, look it up again
Same UK protections as any big site: ID checks, deposit limits, GAMSTOP, free ADRBonus wagering can still bite. Happy Tiger’s 10x is on deposit plus bonus
No Wagering

Independent casino sites with no wagering

If you want an independent site and a bonus you can actually keep, these are the ones in our list right now. Since 19 January 2026 no UK bonus can carry more than 10x wagering, but no wagering at all is still better.

The no wagering independents

PlayOJO: 50 spins at 10p on Big Bass Bonanza, no wagering on any reward.
Betfred Games: 200 spins at 10p for a £10 slot stake with Promo Code SPINS, no wagering. Debit card deposits only.
NetBet: 100 spins at 10p for a £20 slot stake, winnings paid as cash up to £100.
Casushi: 40 spins at 10p for a £10 deposit and £10 stake, no wagering, 48-hour expiry.
QuinnBet: 50 spins at 10p for a £10 stake, cash winnings up to £100.

In pounds, Betfred’s deal is the biggest: £20 of spins for a £10 stake. PlayOJO’s is the smallest at £5, but PlayOJO keeps the no-wagering rule on everything after the welcome offer too.

Where the 10x still applies

Videoslots and Mr Vegas give 11 wager-free spins, but the match bonus of up to £50 carries 10x. Casumo’s 50% match also carries 10x on the bonus. Say you deposit £40 at Casumo: you get £20 bonus and need £200 of play.

Happy Tiger is the one to read twice. Its 10x applies to deposit and bonus together, so £100 in and £100 bonus means £2,000 of play on slots, with bonus wins capped at £300.

Slots

Independent slot sites: where the game choice is

Most UK casinos get their slots from the same studios, so an independent won’t usually have games you can’t find anywhere else. What differs is how many they carry and what they build around them.

Videoslots is the stand-out for sheer numbers, with more than 9,000 games by its own count, plus its Battle of Slots tournaments where players compete on the same slot. Lottoland’s casino says it has over 10,000 games. PlayOJO’s lobby includes more than 80 must-drop jackpot games, by its own figure. Casushi takes part in Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins, which runs from 4 March 2026 to 3 March 2027.

Whichever site you pick, the slot stake limit is the same: £5 a spin if you’re 25 or over and £2 a spin if you’re 18 to 24. If you’d rather start small, our minimum deposit casinos guide lists sites that take £10 or less.

Also Independent

Other independent UK casinos worth knowing

These sites passed our independence test on the Gambling Commission register, but we don’t have a commercial deal with them. No links, no codes: just the facts.

MrQ

Run by Tek Fox Ltd, a Malta company licensed under account 60629 since September 2023, and mrq.com is the only domain on that licence. The register shows no regulatory actions. MrQ says it won’t hold back winnings with wagering requirements.

Lux Casino

Happy Tiger’s sister site, run by Happytiger ApS in Aalborg under account 57641. It has the same 100% up to £100 deal from a £20 deposit, with 10x on deposit plus bonus, and you can only claim one offer across the licence.

LuckyMate

An in-house casino and sports betting from Anakatech Interactive Limited (account 48789), the Sofia-based operator behind Winomania. Slots come from studios like Pragmatic Play, Red Tiger and NetEnt, and the register shows no regulatory actions.

PlaySunny

One of Solaya Group’s own brands, alongside Casushi, Fruitkings and Peachy Games, on account 100050. Solaya has held its licence since November 2025, so the track record is short.

Methodology

How we chose the best independent casino sites UK

Independence came first, then everything else. We may earn a commission when you join through our links, but that doesn’t decide who counts as independent.

Licence holder check We found each partner casino’s licence holder on the Gambling Commission register and in the site footer, and checked the domain was listed under it.
White label check If the register lists the domain as “White Label”, the brand is out, however small or quirky it looks.
Group check Brands owned by Evoke, Flutter, Entain, Rank or bet365 are out. We also left out other large multi-brand groups, like Super Group and LeoVegas.
Brand count Fewer brands on a licence scored higher. One domain, like Casumo or MrQ, is the cleanest result.
Track record We read each licence holder’s regulatory actions and name any penalty or settlement from recent years, with the date and amount.
What the offer is worth We turned each welcome deal into pounds and checked the wagering basis. 10x on bonus only beats 10x on deposit plus bonus.

FAQ

Independent casino sites UK: your questions answered

What is an independent casino site in the UK?
It’s a casino run by its own licence holder, not by one of the big groups (Evoke, Flutter, Entain, Rank or bet365) and not as a white label on someone else’s licence. Casumo, MrQ and Videoslots are good examples.
Are independent online casinos UK safe?
As safe as their Gambling Commission licence. Independents follow exactly the same rules as big brands: ID checks before you play, deposit limits, GAMSTOP and a free independent complaints service. Check the account number in the footer on the public register before you join.
How can I tell if a casino is a white label?
Find the account number in the footer, look up that business on the Gambling Commission’s public register and open the Domain names tab. If the casino’s domain is marked “White Label”, it runs on another company’s licence.
Is Hippodrome Casino online independent?
Not online. The London venue is run by Hippodrome Casino Limited, but hippodromeonline.com is listed on the register as a white label under Betway Limited, account 39372. Your account and any complaint sit with Betway’s operator.
Is PlayOJO an independent casino?
PlayOJO is the in-house brand of Skill On Net Limited (account 39326), not a white label, and Skill On Net isn’t part of a big UK group. But the same licence also carries about 40 of its own domains and 19 white labels, including Genting Casino and Slingo.
Which independent casino sites have no wagering bonuses?
PlayOJO, Betfred Games, NetBet, Casushi and QuinnBet all offer free spins with no wagering on the winnings right now. NetBet and QuinnBet cap spin winnings at £100. Videoslots and Mr Vegas add 11 wager-free spins, but their match bonus carries 10x.
Can I claim a welcome bonus at two sister sites?
Often not. Many offers are limited to one per licence, not one per brand. Happy Tiger’s terms say there’s one offer across all sites on its licence, which covers Spin King and Lux Casino too.
